| Aanvullende informatie |
Chiloé was never fully absorbed into Chilean monetary culture until well into the twentieth century — the archipelago's geographic isolation, dense fog, and near-total dependence on barter and local credit instruments kept formal coinage marginal for generations after Chilean independence. This 2025 issue is a modern commemorative piece, not a circulation strike, invoking the brief period of the República de Chiloé, which held out against Chilean annexation until 1826, the last royalist stronghold in South America.
