背面描述 A seated allegorical female figure representing Liberty occupies the central field, holding an olive branch in one hand as a symbol of peace and a sword and scales in the other as symbols of justice. The national motto PAZ Y JUSTICIA arcs along the upper periphery as the reverse legend, rendered in Latin characters. The year of issue, 1868, appears in the lower exergual area beneath the seated figure.

附加信息

Paraguay's 1868 coinage patterns were struck in the dying months of the War of the Triple Alliance, as the López government attempted to project financial legitimacy while Brazilian, Argentine, and Uruguayan forces closed in on Asunción. The country had no functioning mint of its own; these patterns were almost certainly prepared abroad as proposed designs rather than production prototypes. The war ended with Paraguay losing roughly half its prewar population — the most catastrophic demographic collapse in 19th-century South American history.

The "Big Year" designation distinguishes this from concurrent 1868 pattern variants by the relative size of the date numerals in the die.
