正面描述 The face is printed in shades of orange, yellow, and dark burgundy on a fine wavy-line guilloche underprint covering the entire field. At centre, a large stylised geometric cross vignette — based on a traditional Latvian folk motif — frames the bold numeral '2' in cream and orange, with the legend 'DIVI LATVIJAS RUBĻI' inscribed below. To the upper left, a vertical banner cartouche carries the issuing authority inscription 'LATVIJAS BANKAS PAGAIDU NAUDAS ZĪME 1992'; two smaller counter numerals '2' appear at lower left and upper right, with the serial number prefix and six-digit serial printed in black at lower right above the facsimile signatures of the Bank President and Chief Cashier.

背面描述 The reverse is printed in tones of red-orange and dark burgundy on a wavy-line guilloche underprint. The entire design is dominated by a large, symmetrical geometric cross vignette derived from Latvian folk ornamentation, with stepped angular extensions at each arm and fine line-engraved hatching throughout. The central medallion bears the numeral '2' in cream and the denomination legend 'DIVI LATVIJAS RUBĻI' below it; a secondary numeral '2' appears at lower right, and a further counter numeral at upper left.

备注

Latvia's 1992 definitive series was rushed into production almost immediately after independence was restored in August 1991. Giesecke & Devrient had printed Latvian banknotes before — the firm supplied notes to the interwar republic — and was a logical choice when the revived Latvijas Banka needed a credible issue fast. The 2 rubļi denomination belongs to the transitional rublis series, which bridged the gap between Soviet roubles and the permanent lats reintroduced in March 1993.

Kirils Šmeļkovs designed the full rublis series. The notes were short-lived by design, withdrawn within roughly eighteen months of introduction.
