Perum Peruri — the state security printing works established in 1971 — handled the entire production run of this series domestically, which was a deliberate policy shift away from the foreign printers Indonesia had relied on through much of the New Order period. The engraver credit to Mujirun is one of the few instances in modern Indonesian banknote production where an individual craftsman is identified by name, a practice more common in European intaglio traditions than in Southeast Asian state printing.
The series ran through the transitional years following Reformasi, when Bank Indonesia was granted formal independence from the finance ministry under the 1999 central bank law — the notes themselves circulated through the full early consolidation of that institutional shift.
