One of several emergency guerrilla currency issues produced in the Philippine provinces after the Japanese occupation disrupted regular monetary supply. Negros Occidental was among the more organized of these efforts — the Provincial Currency Committee had enough infrastructure to commission a local printer and issue denominated notes across multiple values rather than resorting to handwritten scrip.
Nalco Press was a local commercial operation, not a security printer, and the notes show it. Counterfeiting was a known concern with these issues, though Japanese forces posed a more immediate threat to their validity than any forger did.
