Tunisia had shed the French protectorate in 1956, yet continued to source high-security printing from France well into the 1980s, a practical arrangement driven by technical capacity rather than sentiment. P#77 carried only a watermark as its principal security device — modest by the standards of the period, when intaglio thread-embedding was already common on higher-denomination issues from comparable central banks.
