Obverse description Intaglio portrait of President William V.S. Tubman at centre, set against a guilloche underprint in olive and gold tones, with the national arms of Liberia at left within an ornate vignette. Two facsimile signatures appear below the portrait, attributed to the Minister of Finance and the Executive Governor respectively. The denomination '20' appears in large letterpress numerals at each corner, with the legal tender clause printed to the right of the portrait.

Reverse description Central vignette presents a busy open-air market scene rendered in fine intaglio engraving, with vendors and customers gathered around stalls laden with goods, set against a warm ochre and olive guilloche underprint. The circular Central Bank of Liberia seal, inscribed 'ESTABLISHED 1999' and incorporating the national coat of arms, occupies the left field. A colour-shifting security ink element appears to the upper right, with denomination numerals '20' at each corner framed by ornamental scrollwork.
