Belize has issued 20-dollar notes in this same general series since 1983, with successive date updates rather than redesigns — the 2003 through 2022 span covers the same basic plate, reissued with revised dates to signal new security specifications rather than any meaningful change in policy or design intent. De La Rue produced the series consistently throughout, which gives the run an unusual coherence across nearly four decades.

The thread and watermark security package is modest by later regional standards, and some dealers flag that notes from the earlier dates in this range show more wear concentration along the horizontal fold lines than later printings — a known handling characteristic for this format in Caribbean circulation.
