The Netherlands Antilles never formally joined the Eurozone and retained the Netherlands Antillean guilder until the territory's dissolution in 2010. This 2004 pattern was struck as part of a speculative or promotional exercise — several Caribbean territories associated with EU member states explored euro-denomination coinage during the early 2000s, none of which entered circulation.
