| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse is executed in fine intaglio engraving after the 1872 design by H. Cabasson and engraved by Albert Bellenger. Two allegorical reclining figures flank the central field — at left, a male figure in an orientalist style, and at right, a draped female figure — with large guilloche numeral '20' medallions at each side. The central panel carries the bank title 'BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE' above the denomination 'VINGT FRANCS' in bold letterpress, with the place and date of issue 'ALGER' inscribed below, accompanied by manuscript signatures of the Secrétaire général and the Caissier, and a warning text cartouche at top centre. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse, engraved by Pannemaker Fils after the 1872 design by H. Cabasson, presents a large central allegorical vignette with a classical female figure seated at left in a contemplative pose, attended by a second figure to the right amid military and maritime trophies, set against an elaborate guilloche and ornamental column border. Numeral '20' appears at upper left and upper right within the decorative frame, and a central cartouche at bottom repeats the anti-counterfeiting legal warning. The engravers' and designer's credits are inscribed in the lower margin. |
