Opmerkingen

Rwanda's first post-independence banknotes were issued by the Banque Nationale du Rwanda beginning in 1964, just two years after the country severed its monetary ties with the Belgian Congo franc zone and established the Rwanda franc as its own currency. Thomas De La Rue handled the printing across the full series — a common arrangement for newly independent African states that lacked domestic printing infrastructure.

The P#6 ran for over a decade without significant redesign, an unusually long production run that reflects the country's monetary stability in those years relative to some of its neighbors.
