The P#73 series spans a transitional period for Honduran currency — the early 1990s saw the Central Bank under pressure to modernize its note security amid growing regional concerns about counterfeiting, which prompted the retention of Thomas De La Rue for this and several concurrent issues. The embedded security thread on this note was a direct response to that climate, paired with a watermark rather than any of the more sophisticated features De La Rue was already deploying elsewhere at the time.
A workmanlike commission by De La Rue standards, technically sound but unremarkable within their broader output for Latin American central banks in this decade.
