Opmerkingen

Honduras adopted the lempira in 1931, replacing the peso at par during a period of currency reform driven partly by United Fruit Company pressure on the Honduran economy — the banana enclave economy had made a stable national currency almost politically necessary. The Banco Central itself wasn't established until 1950, making it one of Central America's later central banking institutions.

Oberthur Fiduciaire printed extensively for Latin American issuers through the 1990s, and this note falls within their standard security package for the region — woven thread and watermark, nothing proprietary to Honduras specifically. The P#73A designation indicates a variety within the broader 73 series, likely distinguished by signature combination rather than a design change.
