The Junta de la Administración de la Casa de Moneda was the issuing body tied to the Buenos Aires mint during the Rosas period — a time when the province operated its own currency entirely independent of any national monetary framework, Argentina as a unified state not yet existing. These peso notes functioned within a monetary system that had been running on paper since the founding of the Banco de la Provincia de Buenos Aires's predecessor in 1822, and by the 1840s chronic inflation had already badly eroded public confidence.
