Issued to mark the 125th anniversary of Philippine independence, proclaimed on June 12, 1898, in Kawit, Cavite, by Emilio Aguinaldo. The anniversary fell during the administration of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., whose government commissioned this commemorative through the Bangko Sentral. Nordic gold — an aluminum-bronze alloy developed in the 1990s — was chosen largely for its resistance to counterfeiting and its distinctive color retention under circulation conditions.
