The Falkland Islands pound has been pegged at parity with sterling since 1983, a decision made two years after the Argentine invasion and subsequent British military recovery of the islands — a deliberate act of monetary alignment with London at a moment when the islands' political future had only just been settled by force. De La Rue has printed every note in the series, and this 2011 issue continues that unbroken relationship.

Pick 19 is the fourth denomination in the current series. Security specification on this issue is notably lean for a De La Rue product of this period — watermark and thread only, without the foil patches or color-shifting ink that appeared on contemporaneous issues from larger territories the firm was supplying at the same time.
