| Opmerkingen |
P#61A belongs to the second "Boat" series, named for the dhow vignette on the reverse — a design that replaced the earlier Ashoka Pillar notes as India sought imagery more directly tied to its economic and maritime identity. The Reserve Bank introduced this ₹20 denomination in 1972, though notes dated to 1970 circulate through the catalog under the same pick number owing to consistent design continuity across signature varieties.
Governor S. Jagannathan's signature appears on the earliest examples. Later issues within the same pick carry different signatories, making signature attribution the primary tool for narrowing down a specific printing run.
