| Obverse description | Printed on lilac cardboard, the note is framed by a typeset border of interlocking guilloche bands with the denomination numeral '20' repeated in each corner. The central text block, in Gothic blackletter script, carries the issuing authority 'Deutsch-Ostafrikanische Bank', the payment obligation clause in German, and the bold legend 'ZWANZIG RUPIEN', with the place and date 'Tabora, den 15. März 1915' below. Two manuscript signature lines appear at the foot, one for 'Eingetragen durch:' and one for the Dar es Salaam branch representative 'In Vollmacht:', above the header 'Interims-Banknote'. |
