| Obverse description | The obverse features the Bohemian lion passant rampant at centre, depicted in high relief with a double tail, rendered in a bold Art Nouveau style by engraver Otakar Španiel. The circular legend REPUBLIKA ČESKOSLOVENSKÁ is arranged around the periphery, with the letters distributed along the rim in an unconventional rotated layout characteristic of this pattern series. The date 1920 appears at the base of the design beneath the lion. A small decorative rosette ornament is positioned below the date at the lower rim. The overall composition reflects the newly established Czechoslovak Republic's aspirations to combine national heraldic tradition with modern artistic sensibility. |
