Beschrijving voorzijde At right, a finely rendered intaglio vignette presents the Choto Shona Mosque (Small Golden Mosque), a Mughal-era structure in Chapai Nawabganj district, with its characteristic domed profile and ornamental facade. The denomination numeral is set within guilloche-patterned panels alongside Bengali and English inscriptions, with the Bangladesh Bank seal integrated into the layout. The overall design employs a multi-colour underprint with geometric border elements framing the composition.

Opmerkingen

Bangladesh Bank introduced this denomination in 1979 as part of the post-Liberation currency consolidation, replacing transitional issues that had leaned heavily on Indian Reserve Bank infrastructure during and immediately after 1971. The 20 Taka slot was a relatively late addition to the series — earlier priority went to smaller denominations needed for daily commerce in a country still rebuilding basic distribution networks.

Pick 22 is the first distinct type for this value, and the watermark remains the primary security measure — modest by later standards, but consistent with what Bangladesh Bank could specify from its contracted printer at the time.
