Obverse description Cream and rose-red note with a fine guilloche underprint across the entire field. At left, an intaglio portrait vignette set within an ornate oval cartouche with interlaced rope-work border shows a young man in period dress, generally identified as Tadeusz Kościuszko. The denomination numeral '20' appears at upper left and right corners, each surmounted by a crowned Polish eagle in red. At upper centre, the issuer's name 'BANK POLSKI' is printed above the denomination inscription 'DWADZIEŚCIA ZŁOTYCH' in large letters. Centrally below, the place and date of issue read 'WARSZAWA dn. 28. Lutego 1919 roku', with the legend 'DYREKCJA BANKU POLSKIEGO' and two manuscript signatures beneath. A blank oval cartouche matching the portrait frame occupies the right half of the note, intended for the watermark counterpart.

Reverse description Rose-red and blue-grey note with a dense foliate guilloche underprint and outer scalloped border in ochre. Two large ornate oval cartouches flank the centre, the left one blank and the right one enclosing an intaglio vignette of the crowned Polish White Eagle with spread wings within a circular wreath frame. The interlaced 'BP' monogram of Bank Polski appears in dark blue at upper left and right. The denomination numeral '20' with a stylised 'Z' superimposed is printed centrally, flanked by the legal tender text. An anti-counterfeiting warning in Polish is set along the lower portion in italic script.
