200 Forint

The 200 Forint denomination was introduced in 1998 as part of Hungary's redesigned note series following the hyperinflationary legacy of the early post-communist transition — by the mid-1990s, the forint had stabilized enough to justify a coherent long-term series. Magyar Pénzjegynyomda, which has printed Hungarian currency continuously since 1923, handled production entirely domestically, with a print run of just over 12 million for this date.

Vagyóczky handled both the design and the obverse engraving himself — relatively uncommon when those roles are typically divided between a design studio and a specialist intaglio engraver.
