| Obverse description | At left, a large intaglio vignette of a caparisoned elephant in three-quarter view, rendered in Paul Jouve's characteristic naturalist style; at right, a group of water buffalo wading through a rocky river landscape. The centre is dominated by an ornate Khmer-style decorative arch with scrollwork guilloche, framing the blank centre panel, with the denomination DEUX CENTS PIASTRES in large letterpress above the serial number. The issuer's title INSTITUT D'EMISSION DES ETATS DU CAMBODGE DU LAOS ET DU VIET-NAM appears across the top, flanked by the numeral 200 on each side. |

A central Khmer decorative arch with ornamental roundels mirrors the obverse design. Khmer script lettering appears at top and at bottom, with the French denomination HAI TRAM DONG and a counterfeit warning in French at lower right. |
