Pridnestrovie — the narrow strip of land along the eastern bank of the Dniester that declared independence from Moldova in 1990 but remains unrecognized by any United Nations member state — continues issuing its own currency decades into that political limbo. The Pridnestrovian rouble has no international exchange mechanism and circulates only within the territory's borders, underwritten by no recognized sovereign authority.
A 2025-dated note is a late addition to a series that has been incrementally updated with modern security features. The inclusion of a QR code places this among the more technically current issues from a non-recognized entity — an unusual combination of stateless politics and contemporary banknote engineering.
