Obverse description Central field displays the Somali national coat of arms: a quartered shield bearing horizontal lines and a central five-pointed star, surmounted by a mural crown. Two leopards rampant serve as supporters, one to each side of the shield, their forepaws resting upon it. Below the shield, crossed palm fronds and a spear are depicted on a ribbon scroll. Five stars are arranged in an arc to either side of the supporters along the inner field. The Arabic legend appears across the upper field, reading the country name, flanked by the numeral 200 at right. The bilingual legend SCELLINI 200 SHILLINGS curves along the lower periphery in Latin script, with the date 1966 inscribed to the lower right of the design.
