Venezuela's 2000 Bolívares denomination was introduced in the late 1990s as chronic inflation eroded the purchasing power of lower-value notes — by the mid-1990s, hyperinflationary pressure had already forced the central bank to accelerate its high-denomination program significantly. The 1997–1998 issue dates reflect this compression, with new print runs needed in rapid succession.
The Pick 77 series is prone to ink oxidation along the serial number field on circulated examples, a known issue with the paper stock used during this period.
