Obverse description The obverse is printed on a gold-toned ground with a multicolour central vignette of a red electric locomotive (type BB 9291, 1964) rendered in full colour, occupying the centre of the note. The word ANTARCTICA runs vertically along the left border in large brown letters, while the denomination numeral 2000 appears in an ornate chain-style typeface at upper right, with DOLLARS beneath it. A hexagonal cartouche at centre left bears the locomotive class designation and year, and a guilloche underprint of concentric circular patterns fills the background; a Governor's manuscript signature appears at lower right.

Comments

No central bank, monetary authority, or recognized government has ever issued currency denominated in dollars for Antarctica — the continent has no sovereign issuer and no circulating currency. This note is a novelty or fantasy item, produced for the souvenir or collector market. The "Grand Central Station" reference and the BB 9291 serial format are decorative choices with no connection to any real issuing institution.

Cataloging it as issued currency would be misleading. It belongs under fantasy/cinderella issues.
