2000 Dong Vinh Long Detention Center

Canteen coupons issued by Vietnamese detention facilities — known as phiếu mua hàng — circulated internally as restricted scrip, allowing detainees to purchase approved goods without handling state currency. Vinh Long province, in the Mekong Delta, operated its own facility-level system, and denominations like this 2,000 Đồng piece reflect purchasing power calibrated to canteen pricing rather than any monetary standard.

These notes never entered public circulation and were voided upon release or transfer. Survival outside institutional walls is largely accidental.
