Armenia's switch to hybrid substrate for this denomination reflected a broader Central Bank procurement shift in the 2010s toward polymer-reinforced paper, offering improved durability without fully committing to pure polymer. Giesecke+Devrient's Munich and Leipzig facilities have supplied Armenian banknotes across multiple series, and the transparent window incorporated here was a deliberate upgrade from the earlier cotton-paper 2000 Dram issues, which relied on conventional embedded thread alone.
Pick 62 superseded Pick 56, the 2012 cotton-paper issue of the same denomination — a relatively short replacement cycle by central bank standards.
