Reverse description The reverse features a highly detailed high-relief depiction of a crab, the symbol of the zodiac sign Cancer, set against a divided field: the left half rendered with a dark, matte background evoking the night sky with the Cancer constellation traced in fine lines and stars, the right half polished to a mirror finish with stylized wave and scroll ornaments. The zodiac dates 22/06 and 22/07 flank the crab to the left and right respectively. The Cyrillic inscription РАК (Cancer) appears at the bottom of the inner field above an ornamental wave pattern. A broad outer border ring displays all twelve zodiac symbols in individual panels, with the Cancer symbol (♋) highlighted at the left.

Additional information

Gabon's 2000 Francs CFA issues of this period were struck under the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) framework, though collector-oriented silver pieces like this one were produced almost entirely for export markets — they saw no meaningful circulation within Gabon or any CEMAC member state. The zodiac series to which this belongs was minted by a contracted European facility, a common arrangement for Francophone African nations whose domestic infrastructure doesn't support proof-quality silver production.
