| Reverse description | The reverse presents a predominantly textual design in Devanagari script within a dotted inner border. The name गोर्खापत्र (Gorkhapatra) is prominently inscribed in large characters at the center, with the founding year in Bikram Sambat era rendered as (वि.सं. १९५८) immediately below. Two lines of a classical Nepali verse occupy the middle field: निरोगी सबै हुन् सबै हुन् सुखीया | सबै वेस देखुन् नहुन् क्वै दुखीया || The arc legend ११६ औं गौरवमय वर्ष (116th Glorious Year) runs along the upper border, and the denomination रु २००० is inscribed in large numerals along the lower field. |

Issued to mark the centennial of the Gorkhapatra, Nepal's oldest continuously published newspaper, founded in 1901 under Rana Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher. The paper was originally a government mouthpiece during the autocratic Rana oligarchy and only gradually evolved toward independent journalism after the fall of that regime in 1951.
