| Opmerkingen |
Sri Lanka's 2000 Rupee denomination was introduced in 2017 as the island's highest face-value note, a direct response to inflation eroding the practical utility of the 1000 Rupee note in everyday transactions. The "Stability for Prosperity" series, launched in 2025, is the Central Bank's most recent family of issues — replacing designs that had been in circulation for several years without substantive security upgrades.
De La Rue's Sri Lanka facility in Ratmalana has supplied the country's banknotes since the mid-1980s, making it one of the longer-standing domestic printing arrangements in South Asia.
