| Rückseitenbeschreibung | A central polychrome vignette presents a harvest composition of Madagascar's principal agricultural products — rice stalks, vanilla flowers and pods, lychee fruits, and pepper — arranged as a decorative bouquet against a pale yellow-green guilloche underprint. A vertical windowed security thread with embedded green shifting text runs through the center of the note. The 20000 Ariary is the highest face value in Madagascar's current paper series, introduced as the country's economy demanded a more practical large-denomination note for everyday high-value transactions. Giesecke & Devrient's Leipzig facility has produced Malagasy currency through multiple political transitions — including the turbulent 2009 coup that effectively isolated the country from international monetary institutions for several years, disrupting normal note procurement cycles.
Security specification for this denomination is relatively modest: a thread and watermark, without the optically variable ink or color-shifting elements found on comparable high-value notes from neighboring African issuers. Pick 104.
