| Obverse description | The colonial coat of arms of Cape Verde occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield incorporating the Portuguese quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) alongside a sailing vessel, all surmounted by a mural crown with five visible towers. Two decorative floral ornaments flank the lower portion of the shield. The curved legend CABO·VERDE arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 2$50 appears in large numerals below the arms, with the dollar sign serving as the decimal separator in the Portuguese escudo convention. |
