Parion, the Mysian Greek city on the Propontis (modern Sea of Marmara), maintained its mint through successive Hellenistic overlords — Pergamene, then Roman — with remarkable continuity. The broad two-century attribution here reflects the genuine difficulty of sequencing Parian bronzes; the civic coinage lacks the magistrate names or control marks that allow tighter chronology elsewhere in Asia Minor.
SNG Copenhagen 274 places this type within the Danish collection assembled largely from 19th-century trade, the primary reference corpus for many Mysian issues that remain understudied relative to their Lydian or Pontic neighbors.
