Obverse description The national arms of the Republic of Korea — a stylised taeguk symbol within a circular floral rosette — is displayed prominently in the upper centre, encircled by a wreath of hibiscus blossoms and foliage. Below the arms, a horizontal band carries the Hangul inscription for 'Republic of Korea' (대한민국). The denomination '25,000 원 / WON' is inscribed in the lower field in both Korean numerals and Latin characters. At the base, the issuer's name in Hangul (한국은행, 'Bank of Korea') appears in two lines. The date, expressed in both the Dangun era year (4303) and the Gregorian year (1970), is inscribed in the upper field above the arms.
