Beschrijving voorzijde The central field bears the Coat of Arms of Rhodesia in high relief, featuring a quartered shield supported by a sable antelope on the dexter side and a greater kudu on the sinister side. Above the shield rises a helmet surmounted by a Zimbabwe bird as crest, flanked by decorative mantling. A compartment below the shield carries the motto ribbon bearing the legend SIT NOMINE DIGNA. The country name RHODESIA appears as a curved legend along the lower periphery, with the engraver's initials T.S. visible in the field to the lower right of the arms. The coin is encircled by a beaded border.

Aanvullende informatie

Rhodesia's coinage after UDI in November 1965 presented a quiet logistical problem: the country needed to maintain a functioning currency while under international sanctions that officially cut it off from London's Royal Mint. Blanks and production assistance were sourced through intermediaries, and the coins continued circulating with little outward sign of the political crisis sustaining them.

By 1975, the Bush War was escalating sharply, with ZANLA and ZIPRA operations forcing the Rhodesian government into increasing military expenditure. Coins kept circulating regardless.
