| Opmerkingen |
Suriname's 1957 series was among the first issued under the Centrale Bank van Suriname following its establishment in 1956 — the bank had only just assumed the note-issuing function previously held by the Surinaamsche Bank. Enschedé in Haarlem had been producing Netherlands Antilles and Surinamese currency for years and carried that relationship forward into the new institutional arrangement without interruption.
C.A. Mechel's involvement as designer places this note within a small body of documented Enschedé commissions from the period. The 25 Gulden was the highest denomination in the initial CBS series, which made it the least commonly encountered in everyday transaction use.
