Reverse description The reverse depicts two association football players in dynamic action: a standing player in the act of striking a football in the lower left field, while a second player executes a sliding tackle in the lower right. Behind the figures, a stylized traditional East Asian pavilion roof is rendered in the upper field, serving as an allusive backdrop to the 1994 FIFA World Cup hosted in the United States. The legend WORLD CUP'94 is inscribed to the right in bold Latin characters, with the denomination 250 ТӨГРӨГ appearing to the left in a combination of numerals and Cyrillic script. A raised beaded rim frames the entire composition.

Additional information

Mongolia issued this coin as part of a wave of commemorative silver struck for foreign collector markets throughout the 1990s — a revenue strategy adopted by several central Asian states following the collapse of Soviet trade relationships. Mongolbank contracted much of this production through European minting houses, as domestic striking capacity could not meet collector-grade silver standards.

The 1994 World Cup was hosted jointly across nine American cities, the first time the tournament came to the United States.
