| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Cape Verde occupies the central field, depicting a torch-bearing emblem encircled by the motto legend UNIDADE TRABALHO PROGRESSO, flanked by stylized stalks of corn and surmounted by a five-pointed star. The whole device is enclosed within a wreath-like arrangement resting on a decorative base. The circumferential legend REPÚBLICA DE CABOVERDE arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1976 positioned above the central emblem.
