The Baltic Islands — a loose designation sometimes applied to Estonian island territories such as Saaremaa and Hiiumaa — have no independent monetary authority and have never issued legal tender. This "dollar" exists entirely outside any formal currency framework, produced as a novelty or souvenir item with no statutory backing. The security strip is cosmetic in this context.
