Comments

This note belongs to a brief and obscure episode of wartime occupation currency. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, provisional issuing structures were hastily assembled in occupied Ukrainian territories. The Emissionny Bank in Kiev operated under these conditions, producing currency whose legal standing was ambiguous almost from the moment of printing.

The 1941 Kiev chervontsa issues are genuinely rare survivors — not because they circulated heavily, but because the occupation administration's monetary arrangements collapsed and were superseded before the notes achieved any stable distribution.
