| Reverse description | A traditional Arabian dhow with full sails set, depicted in fine detail occupying the central field, conveying Kuwait's historic maritime heritage. The vessel is shown in profile facing left, with rigging and hull clearly delineated in a bold, medallic engraving style. Below the dhow, in the lower portion of the field, appears a dual-date legend in Arabic numerals. The design is enclosed by a beaded border running the full circumference of the coin. The composition is balanced and emblematic of Kuwait's identity as a seafaring nation. |

| Additional information |
Kuwait's Currency Board was established in 1960 specifically to issue the new Kuwaiti dinar following the country's monetary separation from the Persian Gulf rupee system. This pattern was produced ahead of that transition — the dinar launched in April 1961, just weeks before Kuwait formally ended its status as a British protectorate in June of that year. The gold denomination never entered circulation; the circulating series was struck only in base metals.
