Turkey does not use the euro and has never been a eurozone member. This piece — officially issued under Turkish authority with a face value denominated in euros — belongs to a category of legal-tender novelty coinage produced for the collector market, with no plausible circulation use. Several non-EU states issued similar euro-denominated pieces in the early 2000s, exploiting a regulatory gap before the European Central Bank moved to discourage the practice.
