CBPM produced this piece under a licensing arrangement with Disney, part of a broader push by Chinese state minting operations into the collectibles market during the mid-2010s. The silver-deposited polymer format — a thin layer of .999 fine silver applied to a polymer substrate — was a technically unusual production choice, blurring the line between banknote manufacturing and commemorative medallion work in a way that complicated its classification from the outset.
