The Topor arms (a stylized hook or axe charge) appear within the legend, positioned before or after REX. The peripheral legend in Latin reads around the coin in a continuous band, identifying the king as ruler of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. The design is characteristic of hammered Lithuanian issues of the mid-sixteenth century, with the monogram as the dominant device. |
