Obverse description Printed on cream paper with a fine wavy-line guilloche underprint, the note centres on a letterpress-engraved vignette of two putti — one kneeling atop a cube bearing the large numeral '3', the other standing and holding a balance scale — flanked by ornate baroque cartouches containing the winged Lion of St. Mark at upper left and the date '1848' at upper right. The denomination legends 'LIRE TRE' and 'CORRENTI' arc to either side of the central group, while 'MONETA PATRIOTTICA' runs in bold lettering across the lower margin.

Reverse description The reverse is left largely plain on cream paper, with a circular red ink control stamp applied at centre by the Venetian provisional government authority; the stamp encloses an image of the winged Lion of St. Mark holding a book, surrounded by the legend 'CONTROLERIA 1848' repeated around the border, serving as the official authentication mark of this patriotic currency issue.
