| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupying the central field. The portrait depicts the king in a restrained, unadorned style characteristic of Paget's work for the post-war Commonwealth coinage. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the effigy along the rim, interrupted at the base by the truncation of the bust. The coin is bordered by a fine toothed or beaded inner rim running the full circumference. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse displays a central device of three upright wheat stalks, their heads fanning slightly outward, rising from a common base and rendered in fine relief — a design by George Kruger Gray symbolic of Australia's agricultural prosperity. The date is split to either side of the wheat stalks at mid-field, with the designer's initials 'K G' appearing discreetly in the field flanking the stems. The legend AUSTRALIA arcs along the upper rim, while THREE PENCE is inscribed along the lower portion of the field, all within a toothed border. |
