| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features a crudely rendered willow tree with sinuous, intertwining branches and drooping foliage, characteristic of the primitive hammered dies employed at the Boston Mint. The design occupies most of the flan, which is irregularly shaped and shows typical planchet irregularities consistent with hand-cut silver flans of the period. The tree motif is enclosed within an inner beaded border. The peripheral legend MASATHVSETS. IN. runs around the circumference in Roman capitals, partially visible due to the irregular striking and flan clipping inherent to this issue. |
