This particular note features the red kangaroo, the largest terrestrial mammal native to Australia and a long-established symbol on the nation's currency going back to the decimal era. Collector-focused RBA releases of this type are printed in limited runs and sold through the RBA's own note sales program, meaning they enter the market unfolded and largely bypass commercial banking channels entirely.
Paper composition is notable here — the RBA moved circulating Australian banknotes to polymer in 1988, making any paper-substrate Australian note issued after that point a deliberate, self-conscious choice rather than the default.
